‘In seven days, God created the world. And in seven seconds, I shattered mine.’

Watched this movie just 3 days back. Well!! its pretty interesting to know how the audience would react to this movie. Because i believe that the response of Ben Thomas is pretty different to many real life responses from many of us in a similar situation.  Obviously we would feel guilty as he feels, but what he did to overcome that guilt of that fatal accident is extraordinary. He goes to such lengths to confirm himself that all those people deserve what they are about to get….

Will Smith is amazing, remarkable and great. I guess this should be a serious contendor for Academy awards… Sometimes you are so emotionally attached with a movie and this is certainly one such movie.

And finally… Rosario Dawson is stunning.

This movie is a treat!

There were quite a few movies i watched during my eventless weekends and thought of writing something about those.

Chariots of Fire

A true story about two athletes. Its amazing what drives people. One athlete was driven by a passion for glory. He wanted to win and victory only could make him happy. The other one was driven by God. He belives and becomes more close to god by running and that running is like fulfilling a duty. Driven by these different recents, these two champions run and they become victorious.

As correctly mentioned in one of imdb comments ‘A battle beween the forces of the physical and spiritual’

Munich

If you are a fan of Eric Bana (I am) this is one of his memorable performances. I have always been a history junky and this was an important story cos i have known the Munich Olympics disaster.  I was just thinking the similarities when the LTTE gun runner ‘KP’ was nabbed by Our Intelligence people in Malaysia. Luckily they did’nt kill him like what Avner (Eric Bana) did in Munich.

Again, a thriller!

Nights In Rodanthe

This is based on a book by the same author who wrote  ‘The Notebook’. Again a story of middle age romance. But not as powerful to me as of ‘Brdges of madison County’, but a good enough one to spend some lonely time. A sand ending unlike ‘The NoteBook’.

The Shawshank Redemption - Fear can hold you prisoner, hope can set you free….

You should never loose hope. Even if it takes 20 years to dig a tunnel to freedom. A truly inspiring story of a prison break who was wrongly convicted and put into prison. Its a love between two great friends. Something which we not oftenly could see.

This is a must watch….

The Promise

If you wait for me then I’ll come for you
Although I’ve traveled far
I always hold a place for you in my heart
If you think of me
If you miss me once in awhile
Then I’ll return to you
I’ll return and fill that space in your heart
Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I’ll find my way back to you
If you’ll be waiting
If you dream of me like I dream of you
In a place that’s warm and dark
In a place where I can feel the beating of your heart

Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I’ll find my way back to you
If you’ll be waiting
I’ve longed for you and I have desired
To see your face your smile
To be with you wherever you are

Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I’ll find my way back to you
If you’ll be waiting
I’ve longed for you and I have desired
To see your face, your smile
To be with you wherever you are

Remembering
Your touch
Your kiss
Your warm embrace
I’ll find my way back to you
Please say you’ll be waiting

Together again
It would feel so good to be
In your arms
Where all my journeys end
If you can make a promise
If it’s one that you can keep, I vow to come for you
If you wait for me and say you’ll hold
A place for me in your heart.

I thought its a big miss not to write anything about him after all what has happened since the last week of June. There is no question about his talent. Just naturally gifted. When you watch some of his performances during the jacksons 5 era you will know that he was gifted. But this blog post is not about that.

There are so many who follows him all over the world like mad. Millions of them. I have seen Prabhu Deva a south indian dancer who i thought tried to imitate Michael a lot.  Also recently here in Sri Lanka we have Dushyanth. No doubt these guys are talented artists. May be they are inspired by what Michael did.

But….

If they are TRULY INSPIRED by him, then what they should try to do is what Michael did best. That is to be inventive. I doubt Michael imitated anyone. He invented so many things during his career and thats why Michael stands tall among the crowd. The dance performances, stage shows, clothing and all of those are inventions. He did for the first time…..

So try to emulate that success by being inventive and not by being immitattive if you really love MJ!!!!!

He was just once in a life time………. Tribute to you MJ!

This was in my wish list for a long time and finally had the opportunity to watch it over the last weekend. This was also a movie which was one of the favourites of someone who was very dear to me. As expected it was an epic. My all time best romance movie still remains to be ‘The Bridges of Madison County’ by Clint Eastwood and this comes pretty close. Also i loved ‘Message in a bottle’.

Incidentally both Madison County and The Notebook are stories read from a book. Therefore they somewhat takes a similar pattern.

I loved the surroundings and the scenories very much and found that it was mainly filmed in locations in South Carolina. It was the complete love story but with a happy ending in comparison to madison County and Message in a bottle. (Think i liked that…….)

I just loved the way the arrows lead Allie to the room where she wanted to paint from. That embrace in the heavy rain at the waterfront would be in my memory for sometime i guess. It was just soooo perfectly romantic. Could’nt have been better!

This was the special quote for me from all the lovely dialogs in th movie….

Noah: I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I’ve led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who’s ever lived: I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough.

On a side note, the main stars of the movie Allie and Noah (Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling) started a relationship (I mean a real one :) ) soon after the movie but……

Watched this movie last Monday. I will not comment on Will Smith. We all know how good he is. But i was curious about this guy ‘Chris Gardner’ (Of course the movie is based on a true story and the Hero is him). Did some googling and look what i found…..

I just dont know what to say…. but this is the kind of people who inspires me in my ‘Pursuit of Happiness’

I used to be humming a tune for sometime when ever i work or just move around in my office. It’s like ‘When everything’s  made to be broken, i just want you to know who I am’……… At least this is all i could remeber from the chorus of the song by goo goo dolls called ‘Iris‘. I got the mp3 and i was in full swing…………..learned all the lyrics and was singing it loud and clear.

Then i got interested in the movie and was able to get a copy of ‘City Of Angels’ from a friend.

Saturday night….after some office work……..i started watching it, and it was worth. I am a fan of Nicolas Cage and felt he was briliant..but i loved the way a human  (Dr Maggie Rice) fell in love with an Angel…………..i mean…….it was so natural……..

Apart from Iris by Goo goo dolls I also liked the track ‘Uninvited‘ by Alanis Morisette………which was played towards the end of the movie.

I suggest you read memorable quotes section in imdb to have an idea of what i am talking about and also listen to these songs, and hopefully watch the movie.

I watched it on ITN something like 4 -5 years back, but i had heard about this movie even before that. This is a movie I thought i should have a copy for myself. I love movies, but I’m still not into seriously collecting these things as yet. (……..even though i might start doing it now). I was even hunting for this when i was in Canada a few months back, but in vain.

The Bridges of Madison County, the story of Robert Kincaid (A photogragher from the National Geographic Magazine according to the plot…………Incidentally, National Geographic web site is something which i visit at least once a week  emoticon)and Fransesca Johnson’s love story, is a novel by Robert James Waller.

I wont say anything further as i strongly encourage any one of you to watch this classic.

One of my Very Good friends - ‘Rajive’ just rang me and asked whether i want it…………Needless to say…………i was ecstatic.

I was even considering of buying this through Amazon.com when this happened………..

Have a look at Madison County here.

For me, the most illfated decision made by Hitler during the Second world war was Operation Barbarossa or the invasion of Soviet Russia. Simple maths will prove that it takes virtually millions of soldiers to invade Russia due to her sheer size. But Hiltler went ahead with his plans and the rest is history.

The Gernman attempt to capture the city of Stalingrad is a bit of history itself as hundreds and thousands of both Germans and Russians lost their lives. A briliant movie on a Russian Snipper "Enemy at the Gates" is based on this Stalingrad siege.

But this is not the story…………..

Russian Leader Joseph Stalin had a Son serving in the Red Army at that Time ‘Jakov Djugahvili‘ who was a Senior Lieutenant. He was caught by the Germans during battle.

German Field Marshal Paulus who surrendered to the Red Army in the battle of Stalingrad was in the custody of the Russians. Hiltler suggested a prisoner exchange, Jakov for Paulus. Afterall its Joseph Stalin’s (Russian Leader) Son for a German Field Marshal.

Stalin’s reply for this proposal was………..

"A marshal would not be exchanged for  lieutenant"

Yesterday after work I went to Liberty Cinema for MI3. It was definitely better than MI2. (I can’t comment on MI1 since I have’nt watched it.) Even though there was no story as such it was not short of Action. Will be interesting to know what DHL’s part in the movie. The International Courier and Parcel service provider earned good publicity i guess. Maybe Kodak……………………….
Finally what was Rabits Foot?
