The Networked Readiness Index is a portrait of each country’s readiness to fully capitalize on the benefits of IT and related services. The Global Information Technology Report prepared by the World Economic Forum is an annual report on how each country is positioned in the context of a digital world.
My observation is that from the 2002-2003 report to 2004-2005 report Sri-Lanka is actually slipping down the list amidst heavy spending on the Government side on projects like e-Sri-Lanka. Sri-Lanka is currently positioned at 71st out of 104 countries considered. Both India and Pakistan are above us. Please visit this link for the 2004-2005 report.
My thinking is that this report has to be an eye opener for policy makers and all of us who are in IT. We have to Know where we are heading before actually going there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
