We were waiting at Borella waiting for a Bus, me to go to Mt Lavinia on 154 route and Rajive to Borella.(After the .NET forum meeting yesterday). Suddenly one of these new CTB buses came which was recently imported from Japan for the Reincarnation of CTB.
It was a fully airconditioned bus (AC was swithed of) with Auto doors and also only a single seat line on each side. So the inside was quite spacious and suits our rush hours.
Also the bus ride was very smooth considering the pathetic road conditions in Colombo. So after all our government has done something good, and this also should be the way since we as a country should promote public transport as a long term strategy as we face the rising fuel bill. (80$+ per barrel ). But its up to the CTB drivers and conductors to make sure that they provide a good service to the Tax payer and also to use the new buses properly unlike the Ceylon Takarang Buses we already have.

Yesterdays .NET User group meeting was again full of new stuff. Vikas Gupta, a Senior Software person from Virtusa did a Very Informative (good to see all the code samples) presentation on ADO.NET 2.0. Microsoft has really addressed some performance as well as general usability issues in ADO.NET 2.0. Factory classes, Improved Transaction scope over multiserver transactions and also the bit of code he showed on how to encrypt and decrypt the web.config file was really interesting. Also the added features for DataTable level communication with XML files, (with ADO.NET 1.0 we worked with DataSets to read and write to XML) really speaks good on performance.
There were many more…………… But above is just a glimpse of it.
Also the second quick presentation By Meril Fernando (He’s now a Developer Evangelist for Microsoft) on Microsoft Express Editions were as usuall…………Interesting.
A good crowd was present and its good to see so many enthusiasts.
